A Franciscan Gift Annuity is a way for you to give to your Friars and to have a secure, fixed income for your life time. This is a very easy gift to arrange.
- A contractual agreement between the donor and the Friars
- For donors age 60 or older
- A gift of cash, securities, or other assets ($1,500 minimum)
- Life time payments to the gift annuitant, or the gift annuitant and then to the survivor gift annuitant
- A gift to support your Friars, at the survivor’s death
The payment rate is determined by the gift annuitant’s age (combined ages for two-life) at the time of the gift.
Payments are fixed for your life time and will not be affected by the stock market, world affairs, or the economy.
Gift Annuities can be issued for one-life, you, or two-lives, you and your spouse.
You can arrange a deferred gift annuity with payouts deferred for a minimum of five years. The charitable gift tax deduction is taken in the year the gift is made (can be spread over 5 years).
You can also arrange a gift annuity for another person with you as the donor. You receive the charitable gift deduction and the payout rate is based on the age(s) of the gift annuitant(s).
Cash and appreciated stock are the usual assets with which to fund a gift annuity. There are specific tax advantages when you give appreciated stock.
Tax benefits include a charitable gift-tax deduction in the year the gift is made, which can be taken over five years. A portion of each payment is considered tax-free income for a certain number of years.
The greatest advantage to this gift is knowing you are making a difference in the lives of others. Legal Title for the Conventual Franciscan Friars: Province of Our Lady of Consolation, Inc.
