Saint Francis School Zambia - Building Hope through Education
dedicated to helping the poor children of Zambia

THE NEED
Thousands of Zambian children are orphaned and vulnerable, often due to the deaths of their parents from AIDS. Families or relatives normally take these children into their homes, but most of them can barely feed and house even their own children. The orphans have a deep desire to learn, but usually no opportunity to enter the government or private schools because they lack the money for fees, uniforms, or even shoes. Our goal is to help these disadvantaged children of all faiths and traditions, and bring hope to their lives through education and Christian values.

Let us remember that the object of eduction is to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives. "For he who opens a school door, closes a prison!"

In May of 2015 the Conventual Franciscan Province of the Proto-Martyrs dedicated a new 38-room Novitiate. Shortly after the dedication, the 22 private rooms began to fill quickly with Zambian Franciscan novices. Also, in July of last year five friars made their Solemn Vows as Conventual Franciscans. Your support helps with education and formation of these young men so that they will serve others as priests, teachers, in other service areas, and in the work of Mission Press, founded under the inspiration of St. Maximilian Kolbe.
