Construction almost complete

Construction is almost complete for the new friary at Holy Cross Retreat Center in Mesilla Park, New Mexico. The friars broke ground for the construction of the new Friary on August 2, 2012, rededicating themselves and the Conventual Franciscan Province of Our Lady of Consolation to service in the southwestern United States.

Painting trim, applying stucco, making sure the bathrooms are handicap accessible for senior friars - once these finishing touches are made the friary will be ready to open its doors for seven Conventual Franciscan Friars, who will work at the Retreat Center and other ministries in the Diocese of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Friars currently serve as retreat and spiritual directors, as hospice chaplains, in ministry to young Catholics, and in celebrating the Eucharist in parishes and mission areas of the diocese.
